Help with GNU make installation

Hi all,
I've tried to install the GNU make on a SUN Sparc machine. The firsts steps (configure) it was ok. On the "make install" step I found the following error :

Making install in glob
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr1/home/fpacione/apache/make-3.79.1/glob'
rm -f libglob.a
ar cru libglob.a glob.o fnmatch.o
make[1]: ar: Command not found
make[1]: *** [libglob.a] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr1/home/fpacione/apache/make-3.79.1/glob'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

Is the same error when I try "make check".

Please help me
