Also, please always provide information on what version of GNU make
you're using and what type of system you're running it on.  Before I can
give accurate information on how -j operates I need to know this
information, both because the handling of -j was drastically changed in
GNU make over the last few releases, and because some systems seem to
work differently than expected.
