We had discussions about remake back when he started it, but I don't
think either of us has much considered combining the two. I haven't
looked at remake so I don't know how much extra code is involved, and
whether combining the two projects would make them unweildy. Also note
that in order to be added to GNU make, copyright would have to be
assigned to the FSF. I don't know if that's an issue or not.
However, I have a standing offer to add things into GNU make that seem
reasonable to appear in the core code if that makes it easier for remake
(I'm thinking about such things as tracking additional
filename/linenumber information, etc.)
