Can you provide a sample makefile?
Are you using a different make on the HP system? If so, is it the standard
OS make or another?
The macro definition in the command line looks to be in a strange place,
but I can't see that it's related?
Oh, also, what version of Make?

Hi,
My sources are compiling fine in HP-UX I64.
While I am compiling same source in REHL linux using gmake utility it is
throwing error as
/usr/local/bin/gmake J= --no-builtin-rules
-I /vol/NmTools/nmake/1.7/lib/makefiles
gmake: *** empty string invalid as file name. Stop.
Regards,
-Riaj
