[Help-nano] How to quit nano |

Dear nano help,
I went to:
http://www.nano-editor.org/docs.php
and could not find out how to quit nano. I executed the command:
nano hosts
and want to quit or exit without screwing up the hosts file. I did not
make a copy of the file before executing nano.
There is nothing at all in online manual:
http://www.nano-editor.org/dist/v2.1/nano.html
nor the ManPage:
http://www.nano-editor.org/dist/v2.1/nano.1.html
nor Nanorc man page:
http://www.nano-editor.org/dist/v2.1/nanorc.5.html
I know I am an R-Tard but could you please clearly and unambiguously
indicate how to exit nano without modifying the file. Please also
indicate how to exit and save the changes.
Do I press and hold the key with the Apple logo and cloverleaf symbol
on it and then lowercase "x"? or do I use the "ctrl" key and "x" or
"ctrl"-"shift"-"x" or ??
Thanks in advance!
