Does Nano use X11?

Hello,

 

Would anyone help me by telling me if Nano uses/requires X11? I’m not very familiar with Linux, but I’ve been told Nano requires X11, and thus I can’t use it. Is this true? I spent quiet a bit of time researching, but nothing I’ve found says Nano requires X11, however I’m not sure if I’m just missing something simple.

 

If it does indeed use X11, is there perhaps a way for me to build it myself without the X11 usage?
