ya geordie, it works.. thanx a lot..
but now again when i type symbols from my octave command prompt it says

octave:14> symbols
error:
/usr/libexec/octave/2.1.71/site/oct/i686-redhat-linux-gnu/octave-forge/symbols.oct
is not a valid shared library
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
information abt symbols.oct is here:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 602016 Jun 14 18:57 symbols.oct
plz help!!!!!
