Do other Qt apps run without errors?
https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/neovim-qt-qgtk3theme-glib-gio-critical-errors/95633
seems to suggest that this is a Qt error that has been fixed---is your system
updated ('yum update') to the latest versions?
Note that Octave moved the support discussions to Discord, so you may want to
ask there.

Subject: Fedora 39: Octave 8.3 gui hangs after upgrade from Fedora 38
Hi,
I recently upgraded 2 Fedora Linux systems on which I run Octave.
They're now both on Fedora 39, using Octave 8.3. When I start the GUI, it hangs
with the repeated message
GLib-GIO-CRITICAL: GFileInfo created without standard::icon
file ../gio/gfileinfo.c: line 1766 (g_file_info_get_icon): should not be reached
Octave itself is running nice when I start it from a terminal. So it's just a
GUI issue. If someone has reported (and solved) this before, please point me to
the solution.
Thanks.
