The NEWS file in the new rcs-5.7.90 release says:
- Changes in terminology
- from "RCS file" to "repository"
In the documentation and --help output, we say "repository"
instead of "RCS file". This reduces the incidence of "RCS" a
bit. The working file is still the "working file", however.
Note that the (substitution) keyword ‘RCSfile’ has not changed.
Likewise, diagnostic and error messages still say "RCS file".
[Question for pretesters: OK to change messages also?]
I suggest that the phrase "repository file" would be less confusing
than the word "repository". I tend to think of an RCS directory and
its contents as a "repository", and I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
This would also be more consistent with the CVS documentation's use
of the term "repository".
