Yes, --kill is a shortcut for "--eval 'ObjectMemory quit'".
Can you try downloading debug info for libc and getting another backtrace?
Also, you can try removing all mentions of qsort.c from
lib-src/Makefile.am (or, if you don't have automake,
lib-src/Makefile.in).
