have been long discussions about it, but I have no control over it.
Info is not a markup language. I don't think they should not be
treating it as such.

Well, you can still do that, actually more reliably than in the past.
The name is 100% predictable, although it may be uglier than in the
past. The rules in the Texinfo manual spell it out.
However, this situation is exactly what @ref was intended for. A
cross-reference without the "see".
