Dear Arpad,
Are you using the Launchpad PPA repository for igraph and have you tried
running apt-get update before trying to install igraph? sudo aptitude
install python-igraph works fine for me on Ubuntu Lucid, it downloads
0.5.4 from Launchpad and installs it properly.
