44.1. Not 441.
You are completely right. The timing jitter is the worst problem. A
constant latency is not so bad (10 ms => equivalent to having your
speaker 3 m away, if the speed of sound is 331 m/s and I put the decimal
point in the right place :-)
So 64 samples is already quite a lot.
