Is there still an entry for it in CVS/Entries?
Perhaps that file got corrupt somehow?

I used to see it all the time on Win32 systems where people had two files
of the same name but mixed case. :-/

Move the file out of the way, do an update, and then verify that they
actually do have the same contents.
