The client/server protocol is documented in doc/cvsclient.texi.
Basically, you should do something like:
#! /bin/sh
echo 'E This is a message to be displayed'
echo 'I HATE YOU'
Make sure you have the #! line -- most systems won't exec scripts
without one.
