Wouldn't it just be easier to look at the "sticky tags" field of the status
report? Or am I missing something here?
Now I remeber why I was not looking at the sticky tag field: it
doesn't necessarily contain the *branch* tag (it can contain a
revision tag, in which case I don't see any way around deducing the
branch tag from the working revision number, as I described).
