Dear all,Gnuastro is participating in this year's Google Summer of Code (GSoc) for completing the inclusion of OpenCL within Gnuastro:
https://openastronomy.org/gsoc/gsoc2024/#/projects?project=opencl_integration_with_gnuastroOpenCL is a low-level standard to operate GPUs, as well as other specialized processing hardware like digital signal processors (DSPs) and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). See the project description in the link above for more details.
Last year, Labib Asari successfully completed GSoC in Gnuastro by implementing a proof-of-concept infrastructure of OpenCL within Gnuastro. For more on Labib's work, see the report: https://labeeb-7z.github.io/Blogs/2023/08/22/Final-Report.html
This year's successful applicant will work with Labib and I on completing the implementation to hopefully have it in the official Gnuastro by the end of summer.
If you know anyone interested, please forward this email to them. The deadline is April 2nd (18:00 UTC).
Cheers, Mohammad
