cc-mode question

The command (c-toggle-auto-hungry-mode 1) doesn't take effect, as I wrote in 
the following context:

(require 'cc-mode)
(require 'cc-cmds)  ;;I still don't know if it is neccesary
(c-toggle-auto-hungry-mode 1)
