nnimap expiry

For my nnimap folders, I have set expiry-target as a local nnml folder.
When the article expires, while moving the article, gnus seems to copy
it from the server, even if it is present in the agent cache. This seems
like an undesirable behaviour. Is it a bug, or is it intentional?
