After all this, there seems to be a problem with the sftp subsystem in
this version of SUSE Enterprise.  I am opening a trouble ticket with
Novell.

but there is no jk_lsh output at all anymore? Do you have syslog
configured to have a /dev/log entry inside the jail, or do you have
jk_socketd running to pass log messages from the jail to syslog?

I assume you copied it using jk_cp ?
