It appears you have fixed it! Can the dependency on /dev/null be detected automatically by jailkit or is it OS dependent and must also be discovered by hand?
it is application dependent, That's why it is useful to store such information in jk_init.ini
What are the implications? Is this SuSE (in my case openSUSE 10.2) specific? It seems SuSE requires jk_init.ini's sftp section to be changed to look like this: [sftp] comment = ssh secure ftp executables = /usr/lib/ssh/sftp-server includesections = netbasics, uidbasics devices = /dev/urandom, /dev/null
on my system (which has the jailkit development version) /dev/null is already in this section. Did you have to add it yourself?
And of course SuSE uses the alternative init.d script you provide in extra/ in the 2.3 jailkit distribution. jk_init.ini should be examined to see if other areas need changes. I can't say if this issue is SuSE specific or more an artifact of the ssh package (or SuSE packaging of ssh). According to http://benjiweber.co.uk:8080/webpin/ there is no SuSE package for jailkit. Such package could incorporate the above changes. SuSE is after all the 2nd or 3rd most popular linux according to distrowatch. However, I've never built a package.
I don't have suse (I use Ubuntu and Debian), so I can't create one either. regards, Olivier
