and is the error message true? does this directory exist or not?
if it exists, what does the home directory in /some-jail/dir/etc/passwd
point to? That one should look like /home/user because it is alrready
inside the jail.

if the chroot jail itself or any of the system directories is writable
by the user you get this warning. Only the home dir itself should be
writable by the user.
