Good question. I don't see why not. It doesn't have to be in the /dev area. I've only recently began looking at Chroot() jail and found that mknod works fine in the Jail area. I'd look at doing the same sort of thing with devfs.
I don't have a freebsd installation right now, but you're piqueing my interest. Keep us posted!
