Here is an outrageous story.  A tiny little website called geocoder.ca is being sued by Canada Post.  Geocoder.ca has created a crowd-sourced database of postal codes that is distributed for free under the Open Database License (ODbL).  Canada Post is suing to have the data taken down and for lost revenue.

Ervin Ruci is the sole operator and owner of geocoder.ca.  Ervin has indicated that his free postal code data is used by OSM.  For more info and to donate to geocoder.ca’s defense please visit - http://geocoder.ca/?sued=1  Please help support open data!

Thanks,

Bernie.
