I've made an attempt at porting this support into cvs HEAD.  Let me
know whether it works for you... from the llok of your original
patches to ltconfig.in, the case branches you added could never have
matched though, so what I have put in CVS (even though it is based on
your patch) will make libtool behave very differently to what you saw
in your tests.

Anyway, if you find that it works I'll port it to the
multi-language-branch too.
