I assume that what you mean here, is "Is it possible to only add these 
paths if they don't exist in -print-search-dirs?". And, of course, it 
is possible. It is even possible to remove non-existant directories 
(most of the output of -print-search-dirs).

Am I going to do that today?
Not likely, maybe next patch :-)

In case you actually mean what you said, ld *always* searches these 
paths.
