I have just patched the 1.5 branch with the patches which were only
applied to HEAD.  I notice this in the ChangeLog:

        * configure.ac (AC_INIT): Bumped revision to 1.5.0a -- the first cvs
        revision number for the 1.5 maintenance branch, leading towards a
        1.5.1 release.

I guess that means that the plan is that 1.5.1 will be next. :-)
