Hmmm...when I turn on VERBOSE, I get the same
NONE: not found
stuff, but not the
../libtool: line 1: -e: command not found
problem. My build is also VPATH, but the source tree is locally hosted.
The newest entry in my ChangeLog file is:
2004-09-24 Gary V. Vaughan <address@hidden>
* m4/libtool.m4 (_LT_DECL_EGREP): Only the newest CVS autoconf
AC_SUBSTs for GREP. Do our own here too to cater for release
autoconfen.
* m4/libtool.m4 (_LT_SYS_DYNAMIC_LINKER) [openbsd3.3]: Set
need_version to yes or no depending on the os release.
Reported by Dalibor Topic <address@hidden>
But I have several out-of-tree patches:
(1) Gary's recent 50- (49- ?) patch that is apparently still pending
(2) my most recent patch which reverted the quoting changes in
postinstall_cmd and "fixed" $rm.
However, I doubt those changes explain the quote.test problems you are
seeing.

This is far as a verbose Cygwin test run gets for me (VPATH build using
SMB mount to bootstrapped sources on a Unix (TM) system). I have to
assume that the "-e: command not found" message has something to do with
a sed command which has gone awry. The user shell (SHELL) is /bin/zsh
(of course!).
