http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=559The EventChord changes have not been in any "stable release" yet (will be in 2.16). They were done some time in the fifteen-twenties. Similarly for the make-engraver macro: after all, the talk was about things becoming easier to program as a result of new developments.
One thing that makes the engraver aspect a bit more appealing is that if you transpose an accordion part, you'd like the octave wrapping to occur on the transposed result rather than the original, and when you are doing this at the engraving stage, this happens more or less automatically.
