Retreated from patch-set-3 for issue 2587 to patch-set-2, with commit  
776e00fd8ad24d763ad6d5f4365d47dae45932d1.

All the tablature tests show small changes, as in issue 2587, but the  
unwanted skylines and extra space for stems remain gone.  Issue 2587  
remains fixed.
