http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3268 These test results make me sad :-(Even though it makes for better spacing in certain cases, I think the vast majority of regtests take a beauty-hit. One solution may be to smear horizontal skylines of text so that low and high points take up more of the skyline.
If the test had the word goooooooo instead of Adagio, the placement of "sadly" with respect to the "g" in Adagio wouldn't bother me. So I think it's a question of how close is too close to bring objects together, which can be fixed by tuning the skylines.
