I've put up a patch for this at https://codereview.appspot.com/10506043/.   
It's probably as simple as it gets, and it might be argued that it extends  
the title at the top of the sidebar too much.  However, in its favour, it  
does make the version pretty obvious (of particular relevance currently),  
and the width of the title is a bit irrelevant, since it word wraps  
depending on the size of each screen.  For those not wanting to build the  
docs to see what it looks like, there's a screenshot at
