Well, first screenshot is a definite oopsie: removing the manual beaming  
while writing \autoBeamOff is obviously not going to lead to the same  
result.

Since the final commit in that series is going to revert the convert-ly  
rule again (which is just a fast path into simplifying documentation and  
translations but not intended for real documents), I lean towards fixing  
this regtest manually rather than bothering with complicating the  
conversion rule by teaching it to look for \autoBeamOff.  It's definitely  
encouraging that the only visible change is in connection with  
\autoBeamOff: that means that the engraver usually does its job as  
expected, and its not surprising that switching it off causes it to stop  
working.
