http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3656LilyPond's to_string() was written before the standard-library version existed.
Good to cast to int, where we want the integer index of the enum value as a string, for the sake of clarity.
Probably it is best to use the scope operator to specify LilyPond's to_string() until the standard version has been out in libraries enough to have the implementations debugged. (Adding a test in autoconf will also be easier after the developers' libraries have to_string().)
