https://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=680Well, the changes are due to the stem tremolo bars now having a correct bounding box rather than one that is too small by one blot diameter in each direction. The visual size is (after the last patch) the same as before.
As a result, noteheads and beams and bar lines are somewhat more likely to avoid overlapping with the (rotated rectangle style) stem tremolo bars.
The results are different but not much so. I did not notice anything I'd have considered a change to the worse. Some changes seem like a slight improvement.
