The file input/regression/backend-svg.ly (which is run by make test)
explicitly calls inkscape for EPS->SVG conversion and fails the whole test
build if inkscape is not installed (without any meaningful error message!).
Now, inkscape is a GNOME application, so running "make test" now implicitly
depends on all gnome libraries to be installed, which is not necessarily the
case on lots of machines.
Can't we use pstoedit instead?
pstoedit -f plot-svg my.eps my.svg
should also convert an .eps file to the .svg file, without dragging in the
huge gnome dependency.
Cheers,
Reinhold
