No, I do not envision any realistic possibility.
To cut through to the heart of the matter: building any part of
lilypond from a build dir which contains anything, is not
supported. I realize that this will be a disappointment, and I
realize that this goes against common practice in open-source
projects -- but the simple fact is that nobody is willing to
support this. As the saying goes, "patches welcome". :(
There is a long-term possibility that Phil and Colin will become
experts in the build system, but I do not imagine that this would
happen until they master the "make website" sub-task. And even
then, I'm not certain if it's worth their time to master the
current build system, rather than making a new one.
(as an aside, I do not want to make *any* changes whatsoever to
the build system in the stable/2.14 branch. So even if you have a
fix for something, it would only go to git master and the 2.15
development)
