Reducing the space in front of notes with accidentals

In some scores I am working with, I found that lilypond leaves a horizontal space overly large in front of a note with accidentals. This makes the engraving effect look imbalanced. I hope to reduce the space in front of notes with accidentals, so that accidentals can go as close as to touch the previous note. So what property of what grob shall I modify in this case?
