To check which dynamic libraries a binary is linked to use a
program called "ldd" (that's a lowercase L in the front).

The output should look something like this:
        shell>ldd a.out
                libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40017000)
                /lib/ld-linux.so => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)

I finally got sound -- but only when I wasn't using KDE.  In Gnome,
where I don't start up esd, Liquid War at least gave me wav sounds.  
(I'm still installing MIDI, specifically for LW.)

Still, I use KDE most often, and the allegro tools do work from KDE.  
I'm running Debian Sid, and Synaptic tells me I've got liballegro4.1
installed at version 2:4.1.15-4.  Of course, it also says I've got
liballegro4a version 2:4.0.3-14 installed, too.  I wonder which one it
chooses, and how I could tell?
