To let filenames complete using spaces again (like in the olden days),
just add this to your .emacs file:
;; oh lord, PLEASE let filenames be completed with spaces again!
(setq minibuffer-local-filename-completion-map minibuffer-local-
completion-map)
(setq minibuffer-local-must-match-filename-map minibuffer-local-must-
match-map)
