Did you use

        --with-screen=ncursesw

when configuring?

That's the --enable-nls option.

They look consistent to me (using lynx + ncursesw).

The "-version" option tells which library it is built with:

~ (103) lynx -version
Lynx Version 2.8.8dev.1 (28 Aug 2009)
libwww-FM 2.14, SSL-MM 1.4.1, OpenSSL 0.9.8k, ncurses 5.7.20090829(wide)
