I think that the problem being alluded to here is that Javascript, as
the term is currently used, refers to a combination of a scripting
language (Ecmascript) and a document object model.  In practice, part of
the document object model is really a browser object model.

Lynx doesn't create an object model for the document, and the nastier
bits of "Javascript" are really about the browser object model, which is
radically different from the internals of Lynx.

Strictly speaking, Javascript really means the combination in early
scriptable Netscape browsers.
