I thought Debian's using 2.8.8dev.9, which is from June.
(offhand I don't recall what Fedora's using).

no - it's complicated: I've been working through complicated fixes for 
ncurses, dialog, xterm, without quite reaching my "short-term" goal of 
vile and lynx (also complicated fixes).  Aside from my to-do list (very 
long...), there's been little else going on.  I've an interim patch in

        ftp://invisible-island.net/temp

which is smaller than I'd normally make as a lynx update (no urgent 
fixes).
