I am pleased to announce the release of lzip 1.8.
Lzip is a lossless data compressor based on the LZMA algorithm, with
very safe integrity checking and a user interface similar to the one of
gzip or bzip2. Lzip decompresses almost as fast as gzip and compresses
better than bzip2, which makes it well suited for software distribution
and data archiving.
The homepage is at http://www.nongnu.org/lzip/lzip.html.
The sources can be downloaded from
http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/lzip/.
The md5sums are:
eb1f2795ab3f95ccc6c855eac60aefc3 lzip-1.8.tar.gz
3d026849efccc3b8e39608576d86b26d lzip-1.8.tar.lz
This release is also GPG signed. You can download the signature by
appending ".sig" to the URL.
Changes in version 1.8:
* Compression time has been reduced by 4%.
* Lzdiff and lzgrep have been moved to the new package zutils
(http://www.nongnu.org/zutils/zutils.html).
* Compilation warnings on sistems where uint32_t != unsigned int have
been fixed.
Please send bug reports and suggestions to address@hidden
Regards,
Antonio Diaz, lzip author and maintainer.
