Minilzip verifies that it is testing the correct version of the library. You just need to set 'pkgversion' (in configure) and 'LZ_version_string' (in lzlib.h) to the same value.
I'm not sure that changing 'soversion' is a good idea, but it should not cause the tests to fail.
