Dear all,I'm trying to register the media type 'application/lzip' at IANA. You can see the details in the current version of the Internet Draft for lzip at https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-diaz-lzip/
As lzip is not backed/endorsed/authored by any large internet corporation, the people at the IETF want to be sure that lzip is worth the trouble before asking IANA to register the type, and have suggested me to provide some kind of independent review. I agree with them. Any media type registered in the standards tree should be well tested, free of problems, and better at least in some aspect than the similar types already registered.
The rationale is that the more evidence exists of community understanding and positive reactions to the lzip draft (or at least reactions that it will not cause harm), the easier the process of AD sponsorship gets for the Area Director at the IETF.
Therefore, if you have read the draft, or deployed lzip somewhere, or know of a successful deployment of lzip, please write to the media-types@ietf.org[1] mailing list to add your review or tell your experience.
[1] If possible, answer in the thread 'Request for review of Media Type application/lzip' https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/msg/media-types/uv9sVTbxsMKnhxRUrNrLP6utUL0/
OTOH, if you find any error in the draft, please report it to this list so that I can fix it.
Thanks. Antonio.
