Sounds like a good idea. As long as apache sets the Authorization
header with credentials matching a user in monit this should work
fine. Monit can be setup to authenticate against a htpasswd formated
file[1]. It is probably a good idea to export monit users from ldap to
such a file from time to time if you go for such a solution.
