Alert and restart mysqld takes one minute gap

Dear All,
            I have monit monitoring mysql. What I notice is that say 8.40pm it alerts me that mysqld is not available. Then only at 8.41pm it restarts mysqld ? Cant it be done when it detects at 8.40pm itself? Thank you.
