as mentioned, it doesn't seems like crash - it's graceful stop by "monit quit" or by SIGTERM signal, driven externally. Monit itself doesn't stop, we're running it on ubuntu 14.04 machines too and don't see this issue, also internally there were no changes which may cause monit to automatically stop.
Can you send your monit configuration to address@hidden? We can look on it if there is some test, which may call "monit quit" or send signal to monit.

Monit continues to die on 14.04. Not 12.04. Is this a know issue with 14.04? Monit died on 15 servers now. Its just kinda random. I have e.g, 3 elastisearch services..all identical via chef roles. Only one monit service is alive. These are the same cookooks I use to deploy on 12.04.
