"timeout" with host test gives unexpected results

Hello all,

   a simple test like:

> check host example.com with address www.example.com
>         if failed
>                 port 80 protocol http
>                 with content == "Example Domain"
>                 and timeout 2 seconds
>         then alert

   gives on the monit webinterface results like:

> Port Response time      0.284s to www.example.com:80 [HTTP via TCP]
> Port    If failed [www.example.com:80 [HTTP via TCP] with timeout 2000 seconds] 
> then alert

   While at first I thought the "2000 seconds" is only an display 
error, I have found on an internal server cases where "Port Response 
time" was slow (4.117s or somesuch), but the check did not fail and not 
raise an alert.

> Port Response time      4.117s to <localserver> [HTTP via TCPSSL]
> Port    If failed [<localserver> [HTTP via TCPSSL] with timeout 2000 seconds] 
> then alert

   I'm pretty sure that it once worked, ("once" being around May 2014, 
when I first used it), but I did not find a single alarm for 2015.

   I'm using "This is Monit version 5.9" on Gentoo; I do not know which 
version I used before and when I migrated.

   What is wrong here?
